Man is jumped, robbed of cash while walking in Long Reach

July 15, 1996

Four men pounced on a man walking in Columbia's Long Reach village and robbed him of cash, Howard County police said.

Glenn Albert of the 8900 block of Tamar Drive in Long Reach was not injured in the attack early Thursday, police said.

Albert told police he was walking near Tamar Drive and Cloudleap Court about 2: 20 a.m. when four men approached. One of the men, armed with a knife, pushed Albert to the ground and demanded, "Kick it out."

Albert gave the men an undetermined amount of money and they ran down a bike path toward Route 175, police said.

The man with the knife was described as a stocky, 6-foot-tall black male in his late 20s to early 30s, wearing a dark shirt and pants, police said.

Albert could not provide police with a detailed description of the other three robbers, who wore hooded sweat shirts.

They also were in their late 20s to early 30s, police said.
