The Baltimore Choral Arts Society's 31st season will include four subscription concerts and a "Christmas for Kids" concert.

The season opens Nov. 9 at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall with a program featuring Mozart's Requiem in a new edition by Robert Levin. Soprano Janice Chandler will be the soloist.

NewsChannel 2's Mary Beth Marsden and Stan Stovall will join the full chorus and orchestra, the Carillons Bell Choir and the Peabody Children's Chorus Dec. 10 at the Basilica of the Assumption for the annual Christmas concert.

"Christmas for Kids" is scheduled for Dec. 21 at Goucher College. The King's Singers, a six-man vocal ensemble from England, will return to the Meyerhoff March 22 for a performance with the full chorus.

The season concludes May 4 with "The Best of Baroque," featuring Bach's Magnificat and Handel's "Coronation Anthems."

Subscriptions range from $48 to $83 for four concerts. Individual tickets range from $10 to $31. Call (410) 523-7070.

Installation art

Proposals are being accepted by the School 33 Art Center for a regional competition for three installations at the school -- Jan. 25 to Feb. 28, March 22 to April 25 and May 10 to June 13.

Artists may apply with an individual proposal or as part of a group proposal. The competition is open to all artists within a 75-mile radius of Baltimore City. An honorarium will be awarded for each selected proposal to offset the cost of material and labor. Deadline for application is Sept. 21. Call (410) 396-4611.

3-D photography

Photographers will be able to explore the world of three-dimensional photography during a one-day workshop Thursday at the Columbia Art Center, 6100 Foreland Garth in Long Reach Village.

Participants will learn the process of creating three-dimensional photographs with any 35-millimeter camera. Bring a roll of slide film and your camera. Advance registration is required. Call (410) 730-0075.

Auditions

The Columbia Orchestra sponsors new-member auditions at 10 a.m. July 20 and 7 p.m. July 24. Call (410) 461-3933.

Theatre Hopkins will conduct auditions for actors, backstage volunteers and technicians beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Merrick Barn, Homewood campus, Johns Hopkins University. Actors should bring a photo, resume and at least one prepared monologue. Those interested in backstage and technical work should bring a resume. Call (410) 516-7159.

General auditions for the Axis Theatre's 1996-1997 season will take place from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the theater in Meadow Mill, 3600 Clipper Mill Road in Baltimore. Actors of all ages and races are needed. Prepare a two-minute, contemporary monologue. Call (410) 243-5237.
