July 11, 1996

A Sykesville driver was injured in an accident Tuesday evening near Mount Airy, when a second driver apparently failed to see him making a left turn, pulled out to pass and hit his car, according to Maryland State Police at the Westminster barracks.

Walter L. Kunkle, 51, of the 700 block of Old Liberty Road, was treated at Carroll County General Hospital.

He was turning left from Ridge Road on to Gillis Falls Road about 7: 20 p.m. when Louise Elizabeth Rowland, 30, of the 2400 block of Braddock Road, Mount Airy, pulled past a truck stopped behind Kunkle's 1993 Ford in her 1995 Saab, police said. Rowland received a traffic citation.
