Western Maryland College promotes administrators

Western Maryland College is promoting two administrative staff members in alumni affairs and development.

Sharon Bean of Damascus, formerly associate director of major gifts, has been named director of gift planning, and Beth Harlow Buckalew of Owings Mills, formerly assistant director, is now associate director of alumni affairs.

Bean, who came to Western Maryland in 1994, will direct the tTC deferred giving and bequest programs. She also will oversee the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of selected major gift prospects.

She earned a bachelor's degree in English with an honors concentration and a minor in business from Villanova University.

Buckalew, who earned bachelor's and master's degrees at Western Maryland, will continue to create continuing education programs for alumni. In addition, she will be in charge of homecoming preparations and expanded duties within the college's Young Alumni Program.

She also will handle the alumni section of the college's World Wide Web home page.

Buckalew received a bachelor's of arts degree in communication with a minor in writing in 1989 and a master of science degree in counseling in December 1995.
