Baltimore man charged in shoplifting in Mount Airy

State police arrested a Baltimore man at 9: 21 p.m. Thursday and charged him with stealing a back pack and an estimated $450 worth of film from the Mount Airy Ames department store.

Edgar Robert King Jr. of the 400 block of Fawcett St. in the Remington area was released after posting $10,000 bond Friday, a jail spokesman said.

Fire

Mount Airy: Firefighters responded at 6: 48 a.m. Saturday for a burning bale of hay on Route 144 and Bennett Branch Road. Units were out 32 minutes.

Mount Airy: Firefighters assisted Howard County at 7: 21 a.m. Sunday with an auto fire in the westbound lanes of Interstate 70. Units were out eight minutes.

Mount Airy: Firefighters responded at 7: 23 p.m. Sunday for burning utility wires on Old National Pike. Units were out one hour.

Mount Airy: Firefighters assisted Frederick County at 8: 29 p.m. Sunday, responding to a house fire on Catoctin Vista Drive. Units were out 13 minutes.

Mount Airy: Firefighters assisted Frederick County at 8: 43 p.m. Sunday, responding for a house fire on Killen Court. Units were out 24 minutes.
