ABERDEEN -- Aberdeen Proving Ground officials have permanently closed three areas along portions of the Gunpowder and Bush rivers to boaters and fishermen because of the possibility of unexploded ordnance.

The three "Exclusion Zones" include Maxwell Point, between Swaderick Creek and Watson Creek; an area on the Gunpowder River adjacent to Rickett's Point; and a portion of the Bush River from Coopers Creek to Sandy Point.

TOWSON -- Leslie Brown, vice president of NationsBank, and Gregory Devou, executive vice president of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Maryland, have been named woman and man of the year by the Maryland Chapter, Leukemia Society of America.

Brown raised $13,000 and Devou $8,000 in donations and matching gifts after an annual fund drive. They raised more money than any other local candidates competing in a 10-week campaign.
