'Monster' heads Housebuster field at Laurel

June 29, 1996|By Tom Keyser

Meadow Monster, the beaten favorite in last fall's Breeders' Cup Sprint Handicap, heads the field in today's $75,000 Housebuster Handicap at Laurel Park.

The Ben Perkins-trained late-charging speedster was assigned the high weight of 122 pounds for the six-furlong sprint. The race is a major prep for the $300,000 Frank J. De Francis Memorial Dash on July 20 at Laurel.

Ridden by Edgar Prado, the 5-year-old Meadow Monster will break from the seven post. His competition, from the rail out, is Aberfoyle, Say It With Spirit, Star Trace, Creative Tension, Punch Line and Jolly Punch.
