Empty register is taken from barbershop

June 28, 1996

Someone broke into a Cape Saint Claire barbershop Tuesday and stole an empty cash register, county police said.

Officer Andrew Albach said he was patrolling Cape Saint Claire about 6 a.m., when a citizen flagged him down and told him the front door of the Cape Barber Shop in the 1300 block of Cape Saint Claire Road was open.

Albach went to the store and found no witnesses to the crime, but an employee of the barbershop arrived minutes later and contacted owner William Davis of the 300 block of Highland Drive in Edgewater. Davis, after visiting the shop, told police the only thing missing was an empty cash register.

Police searched the area for the register, but did not find it.
