Chicken barbecue planned at Galilee Lutheran

The mouth-watering smell of chicken barbecuing on the grill will fill the air around Galilee Lutheran Church, 4652 Mountain Road, tomorrow.

The men's group will be grilling from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The cost is $3 for half a chicken.

Proceeds will benefit the Lutheran Missions Society. The Aid Association for Lutherans Branch 10144 will match the funds.

Crab feast

While I'm in the food mode, the Pasadena Business Association will sponsor its 10th annual crab feast and bull roast from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. July 10 at Kurtz's Beach.

Tickets are $23 in advance, $26 at the door. Call Larry Sanders, 360-5118.

Democratic club feast

The Stoney Creek Democratic Club on Fort Smallwood Road is having its annual crab feast from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 11.

Tickets are $20 each and include steamed crabs, seafood soups and stews, salads and hot and cold buffet.

Friendship camps

Parents of students entering grades 2 through 5 are invited to enroll their child in a series of summer friendship camps at Pasadena elementary schools.

Sessions, led by counselors Sharon Atkinson, Diane Holmes, Jan Miller and Jane Timberg, are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 10, 16, 18 and 25.

The first camp session on cooperation and teamwork will be held at Sunset Elementary on July 10. Session two at Bodkin Elementary on July 16 will focus on friends around the world and will involve creative arts, music and role playing plus the opportunity to select a pen pal.

Finding alternatives for solving problems peacefully will be the focus of the third camp at Riviera Beach Elementary on July 18. The final session, July 26 at High Point Elementary, will help youngsters with accepting differences.

Students can attend one or all of the camp sessions. Camps are free but advance registration is required. Participants should bring a bag lunch and drink.

Nursery school

Magothy Cooperative Nursery School, 3703 Mountain Road, is accepting registration for its fall classes. The school offers parents the opportunity to work and play with their children during class hours. Parents help in the classroom two or three times a month, working with the teacher and three other adults.

The program for 3-year-olds meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The class for 4-year-old meets on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Information: 360-0292.
