Man charged in smashing of window

June 27, 1996

A Glen Burnie man was arrested Monday after county police said he broke a window at a Shell gas station in Pasadena.

Samuel Anthony Ziegler, 19, of the 8000 block of Covington Ave. was charged with destruction of property.

The gas station manager called police around 4 a.m. to report the broken window. She told police a man who appeared to be intoxicated came to the gas station in the 100 block of Mountain Road, but that she refused to allow him into the convenience store. Soon after, she heard the crash of breaking glass and she found a broken window on the west side of the building.

There was blood on the shards of glass that remained in the window and she saw the man running from the building with a cut on his forearm, police said.

Police followed a blood trail across Mountain Road but did not find the man. Two hours later, a man went to North Arundel Hospital for a cut on his right forearm. Police interviewed the man and he confessed that he broke the window, causing $100 worth of damage.
