Police charge man, 36, in assault of station owner

Police arrested a Baltimore man Monday on charges he assaulted the owner of a Glen Burnie Shell gas station, county police said.

Danny J. Pfouts, 36, of the 5000 block of E. Oliver St. was charged with battery and theft.

Station owner Shoukat P. Choudhry, 37, was not injured.

Choudhry told police that he was at his station in the 500 block of Crain Highway about noon when a man pumped gasoline into a bucket, then washed his hands with it.

Choudhry told the man he could not wash his hands with the gasoline, so the man began pouring it out near the pump.

Choudhry again warned the man, who went to the rear of the station, poured some gas on the ground and more near the car before getting into the vehicle, police said. Choudhry stood in front of the car and told the man he had to clean up the gasoline. The driver backed away but Choudhry walked to the passenger side of the car, police said. The driver got out and punched the station owner twice in the head, police said.

Choudhry called police. Witnesses provided a description of the car and a license number.

An officer stopped the car a short time later on Oakwood Road at Morningside Drive and found that the license plate had been stolen from Arnold in December, police said.
