A 5-year-old girl was in critical condition at Johns Hopkins Children's Center yesterday after being struck by a car, county police said.

The girl, who was not identified by police, was walking in the 1300 block of Oakwood Road shortly before 7: 30 p.m. Tuesday when she ran from behind a parked car into the road and was struck by a northbound 1983 Volkswagen driven by Herman Clifton McClain III, 23, of Glen Burnie, police said.
