Takoma Park youth killed

A Takoma Park youth was killed Saturday when he was hit by a pickup truck as he walked on Interstate 95 north of Route 32 in Savage, state police said.

Henry Alvarez, 16, died after the driver of a 1994 Chevrolet pickup swerved into the slow lane where the victim and a friend were walking, Sgt. D. Austin of the Waterloo barracks said yesterday. The incident is being investigated.

Man with knife robs driver at Jessup truck stop

A man wielding a knife robbed a trucker of cash at a truck stop in Jessup Sunday night, Howard County police said.

The victim, Kevin Siroshton, 23, of Bismarck, N.D, was not injured in the robbery in the 7400 block of Assateague Drive, police said.

About 9 p.m. Sunday, Siroshton was accostedat the Truckers Inn, police said.

When Siroshton walked over to the stranger, the man pulled out a knife and demanded money. The trucker complied and the robber fled, police said.
