Rangers update

The Rangers are 8-2 against the Orioles this year. Texas' pitching staff baffled the Orioles during the series at Camden Yards last week, limiting Baltimore to 22 hits and six runs in four games (one suspended in the sixth inning). Witt and Gross pitched well last week, and each gets another crack at the Orioles. Gross nearly beat Baltimore on three days' rest and Witt was one out away from a complete game before being replaced. The Orioles missed Hill, the Rangers' ace, last week. The Rangers' team ERA continues to dwindle and they are now second in the league in that category at 4.53. The Rangers (45-29) have more wins at home than any other team in the majors (29) and have dominated the AL East (28-13). Four former Orioles play for Texas: Rene Gonzales, Mickey Tettleton, Damon Buford and Mark McLemore are hitting a combined .289 (163-for-564), with 20 homers and 79 RBIs. First baseman Will Clark (pulled quadriceps) has been activated from the disabled list.
