Mets: Recalled OF Alex Ochoa, ex-Orioles prospect, from Triple-A Norfolk. Put 1B Rico Brogna (small labrel tear of the right shoulder) on 15-day DL, retroactive to Thursday.

Phillies: Placed P Bobby Munoz on 15-day DL, retroactive to June 17 with sore right elbow.

White Sox: Purchased contract of P Alan Levine from Triple-A Nashville. Designated P Joe Magrane for assignment.

Yankees: Released P Steve Howe. Activated P Billy Brewer, who was acquired from Dodgers. Optioned P Jim Mecir to Triple-A Columbus. Purchased contract of P Dale Polley from Columbus. Announced that OF Tim Raines will join Columbus for a three-game medical rehabilitation assignment.

Nevada-Las Vegas: Gave men's basketball coach Bill Bayno four-year extension with $110,000 annual salary, a 10 percent raise.

Devils: Traded second-round pick in draft to Penguins for two second-round picks.

Lightning: Acquired G Corey Schwab from Devils for G Jeff Reese, a second-round pick and an eighth-round pick.

Senators: Acquired C Shawn McEachern from Bruins for RW Trent McCleary and 1996 third-round draft pick.

Sharks: Traded two second-round picks to Blackhawks for first-round pick, 21st overall.
