Two Edgewater men charged in rape of girl, 15

June 21, 1996

Two Edgewater men were ordered held without bail yesterday after they were arrested on charges of raping a 15-year-old girl after she passed out at a party.

James E. Butler, 22, of the 4200 block of Shoreham Beach Road, and Emory L. Trawick, 17, of the 1700 block of Elkridge Drive, were charged Wednesday with first-degree rape. Trawick is charged as an adult.

The girl told police she got drunk at a party at the Elkridge Drive address and passed out. She was awakened about 2: 50 a.m. by a man having sexual intercourse with her, police said.

The girl said a second man who was present told her he had just had intercourse with her.

After the girl reported the rapes, she was treated at Anne Arundel Medical Center and released.

Police located the suspects at the Edgewater Texaco and took them into custody.
