Man charged with assault on police

A Mount Airy man was being held on $100,000 bail yesterday after being arrested on three counts of assault with intent to murder police during a drug raid Friday, court papers showed.

Keith Douglas, 29, of the 7700 block of Pheasant Ridge Drive was charged with attempting to pull a loaded .38-caliber revolver from his waistband when police ordered him to show his hands during a drug raid at a home in the 7900 block of Bennett Branch Road about 9: 30 p.m.

Douglas also was charged with one count of carrying and concealing a deadly weapon, police said.


Winfield: Firefighters responded at 2: 41 p.m. Monday for a fire alarm on Streaker Road. Units were out 23 minutes.

Mount Airy: Firefighters from Mount Airy and Winfield responded at 11: 24 p.m. Monday to investigate an odor of gas in a house in the 5700 block of W. Falls Road. Units were out 27 minutes.
