Armed homeowner detains alleged trespasser for police

An angry Crownsville homeowner held a man at gunpoint Friday until officers arrived, police said.

Maurice George Jones, 32, of the 8300 block of Timberlake Court in Severn was arrested and charged with trespassing. He was released on $250,000 bail.

Rodger L. Myers, 40, of the 700 block of Old Herald Harbor Road told police three men arrived at his house about 1 a.m. He said he grabbed his gun and stopped the men on the driveway, where he held one for police while the others escaped in a black Lexus, police said. Myers told police the man he detained worked for him about 18 months ago, but he had had no contact with him since then. The man told police and Myers that he wanted to borrow money, but the others were planning to steal bikes, police said.

Chesapeake student charged with marijuana possession

A Chesapeake High School student was arrested Friday on charges of carrying drugs in school after an administrator found two bags of marijuana in his pockets, police said.

Daniel Richard Slater, 18, of the 8200 block of Bayside Drive in Pasadena was charged with possession of marijuana.

Steven Lottes, the assistant principal of the school in the 4700 block of Mountain Road, told police a student informed him shortly before 10 a.m. that a classmate was carrying drugs. Lottes searched the student and found two bags, each containing 6 grams of what tested positive as marijuana, in a hip pack, police said.
