Doner gains contract for NordicTrack Account is worth $5 million a year

W. B. Doner & Co., the Baltimore-based ad agency, announced yesterday that it has won the $5 million-a-year advertising account for NordicTrack's Retail Stores Division.

Doner will develop print, radio and outdoor advertising for NordicTrack's more than 300 stores, kiosks and factory direct sites throughout the United States and Canada.

The account had been handled by Market Resource Inc., an advertising firm in Hanover, Mass., and was awarded to Doner without a review.

Chaska, Minn.-based NordicTrack designs, manufactures and sells aerobic fitness equipment for homes, including ski machines, treadmills, strength trainers, riders, a circuit trainer, abdominal exerciser and hundreds of fitness accessories.

CML Group Inc., the Massachusetts based-company that owns NordicTrack, reported 1995 sales exceeding $500 million.

"We selected Doner for their proven track record of producing compelling advertising that drives retail business," said Henry Barksdale, NordicTrack's senior vice president for strategic planning.

Doner, which also has offices in Boston, Cleveland, Detroit, London, Montreal, Tampa and Toronto, reports annual billings that exceed $500 million.
