Sykesville town offices closing for renovations, file sorting

June 17, 1996

Sykesville is closing its town offices tomorrow to prepare for renovations to the Town House and to reorganize paper files.

The day will allow town staff to sift through records and make restoration work easier for the contractor.

"We have an attic full of disorganized boxes and old minutes stored all over the place," said Matthew H. Candland, town manager.

The two-story building is getting paint and wallpaper and repairs to the roof. The restoration will take several weeks.

Gamber: Firefighters from Gamber and Reese assisted Baltimore County at 12: 43 p.m. Thursday, responding to an oven fire in the 1800 block of Oakland Drive. Units were out 24 minutes.
