Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes in Baltimore City and Baltimore County.

Western District

Officer assaulted: Officer Mark Ambrose was struck in the chest and suffered minor injuries Friday as he tried to arrest a man in the 600 block of N. Calhoun St. Montrell Belamy, 19, of the 1100 block of N. Calhoun St. was charged with robbery and assaulting a police officer.

Robbery/arrest: An 18-year-old man was in the 1300 block of N. Fulton Ave. when a man struck him with a broken bottle and robbed him of more than $100 Saturday. Later, police arrested a suspect in a nearby house.

Northwestern District

Theft from vehicle: A purse, pager and a computer-calendar, all valued at $400, were stolen Saturday from a vehicle parked in the 3600 block of W. Northern Parkway.

Eastern District

Robbery: An 18-year-old man was near the 1500 block of Ward Court when a gunman robbed him of a small sum of money Saturday. Witnesses chased the suspect, who dropped the handgun but continued running. Police said the suspect was arrested in a nearby house.

Northeastern District

Burglary: Jewelry of unknown value was stolen Saturday from a house in the 3700 block of Raspe Ave.

Northern District

Burglary: A videocassette recorder valued at more than $200 was stolen yesterday from a house in the 3100 block of Ellerslie Ave.

Burglary: A yellow 1989 city-owned Dodge van with government tags LG 22890 was stolen Saturday night or yesterday morning from a maintenance shop at the Baltimore Zoo.

White Marsh Precinct

Robbery: A man robbed the Baskin-Robbins ice cream store in the 8600 block of Philadelphia Road of an undisclosed sum of money Saturday. He gave an employee a note demanding cash from the register.

Parkville Precinct

Robbery/arrest: A 34-year-old woman was in the 7300 block of McClean Blvd. early Saturday when a man armed with a knife robbed her of her purse. Later, police received information about a suspect and arrested a 25-year-old man at a house in the first block of Comet Court near the robbery scene.

North Point Precinct

Vandalism: A 1993 Toyota Camry was parked in the 7900 block of Bank St. on Saturday when someone shattered one of its windows, valued at $100.

Theft/arrest: A 29-year-old man was arrested Saturday after he tried to leave the High's dairy store in the 2000 block of Merritt Blvd. without paying for ice cream sandwiches valued at $10.

Shoplifting/arrests: Two teen-age boys from the 2000 block of E. Oliver St. in Baltimore were arrested Saturday when they tried to leave Ames department store in the 7800 block of Eastern Blvd. without paying for clothing valued at nearly $150.
