25 years ago (week of June 13-19, 1971):

Members of the First Baptist Church of Guilford laid the cornerstone of their new church on Sunday. The congregation, which began as a Baptist mission in Howard County, had constructed its first church in the early 1900s.

About 200 would-be gate crashers, some wielding wire cutters, failed in their attempt to invade an Elton John concert at Merriweather Post Pavilion. The pavilion's security force was supplemented by reinforcements from state and county police. Though several security personnel were injured in the incident, no arrests were made.

50 years ago (week of June 9-15, 1946):

Members of Patapsco Grange No. 403 met at the county Freezer Locker in Ellicott City. Those present voted in favor of supporting a proposed new method of collecting dog taxes. Also, the results of the kitchen curtain contest were announced.
