Norris West is The Sun's new editorial writer in Howard County. A reporter with the Baltimore Sun for the past six years, Norris covered Howard for The Evening Sun from 1990 to 1992, before being assigned to cover federal and state appeals courts, Baltimore neighborhoods and, most recently, small business. He also reported on the Circuit Court primary in Howard last winter.

He resides in Ellicott City with his wife and three children. He will write most of the paper's editorials out of Howard County, as well as a column on the Howard letters page in the Maryland section on Sundays, beginning June 30.
