The Olympic Torch in Maryland

The Olympic Torch Relay will make its way into Maryland from Philadelpphia on Wednesday. It is scheduled to reach Maryland shortly before 3 p.m. and will travel through Elkton, North East, Perryville, Havre de Grace, Aberdeen and Joppatowne before following U.S. 40 into Baltimore. The torch will be carried downtown, then north to John Hopkins University and back to the Inner Harbor, finishing the day at Rash FIeld. The next morning, the Torch Relay will resume ar Pratt And Light streets and will follow Route 2 to Annapolis before continuing west to Washington.

The Olympic Torch Relay started its 84-day, 15,000-mile trek through 42 states on Arpil 27 in Los Angele and will reach Atlanta for the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games on July 19. By the time it reaches its destination, the torch will have been carried by 10,000 runners, including more than 10,000 runners, including more than 100 in Maryland, each taking it for up to one kilometer.
