Dan makes the big time. Who woulda thunk it?

"Rodricks for Breakfast" (8 p.m.-9 p.m., WMAR, Channel 2) -- Baltimore's favorite newspaper columnist/TV host (well, at least he's mine) gets a shot at prime time, with scheduled guests including AIDS researcher Robert Gallo and Charm City's own Cajun/zydeco rockers the Crawdaddys.

"Dateline NBC" (8 p.m.-9 p.m., WBAL, Channel 11) -- The folks at NBC news look at survivors, people who made it through a crisis thanks to extraordinary courage. Profiles include a marine who fell overboard while at sea but managed to stay afloat for several days before he was rescued. NBC.

"Triumph of the Nerds" (8 p.m.-11 p.m., MPT, Channels 22 and 67) -- Who are all those computer wonks who managed to turn personal computers into the world's biggest growth industry? Host Robert Cringely offers some insight into that question -- as he does in his book, "Accidental Empires." PBS.

"Picket Fences" (9 p.m.-10 p.m., WJZ, Channel 13) -- Efrem Zimbalist Jr. shows up as a new love interest in town for Myriam (Erica Yohn) -- much to the consternation of Wambaugh (Fyvush Finkel), who smells a rat. CBS.

Cable

"Saturday Night Live" (noon-1 p.m., repeats 11 p.m.-midnight, Comedy Central) -- Guest host Susan Dey pokes fun at both ends of her TV spectrum, as she revisits the roles of both Grace Van Owen (from "L.A. Law") and Laurie Partridge.

"Anna and the King of Siam" (5: 45 p.m.-8 p.m., repeats 3: 45 a.m.-6 a.m. tomorrow, AMC) -- Before it inspired Rodgers & Hammerstein, the story of Anna Leonowens and her job teaching the children of the King of Siam was made into this 1946 film, starring Irene Dunne and Rex Harrison.

"Invention" (9 p.m.-9: 30 p.m., repeats 1 a.m.-1: 30 a.m., Discovery) -- Find out all about aspirin, the true wonder drug of the ages. Where would mankind be without it? Laid up with a major headache, that's where.

"A Weekend in the Country" (9 p.m.-11 p.m., USA) -- A gaggle of stars spends a romantic weekend at a California bed-and-breakfast. The cast includes Jack Lemmon, Dudley Moore, Faith Ford, Rita Rudner, Christine Lahti and Richard Lewis.

"Taxi" (11: 30 p.m.-midnight, repeats 2: 30 a.m.-3 a.m., Nickelodeon) -- Herve Villechaize, the immortal Tattoo from "Fantasy Island," guest stars as himself in this two-parter (concluding tomorrow). Herve leaves some photos in one of the cabs, then promises to come by later to pick them up -- leaving the cabbies to dream about what they'd want out of a trip to Fantasy Island.
