Teen accused in stabbing freed on bond

June 11, 1996

A 15-year-old Westminster boy accused of stabbing a teen-age boy at a New Windsor carnival last week was released from the county jail yesterday after relatives posted a $100,000 property bond.

Robert L. Mallema, who lives on Old Manchester Road, was arrested on attempted-murder and assault and weapons charges at his home Friday. He is being charged as an adult.

Police said the stabbing occurred about 10: 30 p.m. Thursday after a fight between the two boys in the 100 block of Water St. as they were leaving the carnival.

The injured teen-ager, who was not identified because of his age, was stabbed in a knee and his stomach.

He was treated at Carroll County General Hospital and released.
