2 women charged with theft from store

June 11, 1996

County police arrested two Baltimore women Saturday on charges that they stole $403 worth of clothing from Macy's in Marley Station.

Linda Marie O'Neill, 35, of the 9600 block of Baron Place and Josephine Ann Guernsey, 42, of the 300 block of Shagbark Road were charged with theft.

Steve Sumner, a security guard, told police he saw two women take several items from the Tommy Hilfiger display into a fitting room about 6 p.m., then come out without any of the clothing.

A security guard went in to the fitting room after the women left and did not find the clothes, police said. Another security guard stopped the women when they tried to leave.

The guards found four shirts and two pair of shorts in the women's purses.
