June 11, 1996

A man armed with a gun robbed a Brooklyn Park General Nutrition Center store of an undisclosed amount of money Friday, county police said.

The man walked into the store in the 6700 block of Ritchie Highway shortly before 3 p.m., picked up two items and walked to the cash register.

As the clerk rang up the purchase, the man put a purple hip pack on the counter and pointed a small blue handgun at the clerk, police said.

The man demanded money and told the clerk to put it in the hip pack, police said. The clerk complied and the man took the cash and ran away, police said.

He is described as black, in his 40s, 5 feet 8 inches tall, between 170 and 175 pounds.

He had gray and black hair and a gray mustache and was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, a black baseball hat and a purple hip pack.
