A 15-year-old inmate at the Baltimore City Detention Center was attacked by at least two other teen-age males and stabbed several times yesterday, according to a spokesman for the state Division of Correction.

The victim was in serious condition at Johns Hopkins Hospital with stab wounds in the chest and abdomen, said Leonard Sipes, the spokesman.

Sipes said at least two suspects were identified, and charges were expected, pending an investigation by corrections officials.

The names of the victim and suspects were not released because they are juveniles.

According to Sipes, the victim, who had been jailed on attempted murder and deadly weapon possession charges, was outside his cell mingling with several other inmates about 11: 15 a.m. when he was attacked.

At least one weapon was recovered.

After the stabbing, a lockdown was ordered in the L Section, which houses nearly 80 juveniles, Sipes said.
