Here's Rosie, even while talk shows are failing

Today's TV

Do we really need another talk show on daytime TV? At least one comedian thinks so.

"The Rosie O'Donnell Show" (10 a.m.-11 a.m., WMAR, Channel 2) -- If talk shows are dead (and they certainly appear to be at least sick, judging by the number of casualties over the past year), what makes Rosie O'Donnell think she can survive? See if you develop any insights why during this debut show featuring George Clooney and Susan Lucci. ABC.

"Star Trek: Voyager" (8 p.m.-9 p.m., WNUV, Channel 54) -- A crew member is killed during a science experiment but is reborn as a vengeful amphibian. UPN.

"On Seventh Avenue" (9 p.m-11 p.m., WBAL, Channel 11) -- Nasty goings-on in New York's high-fashion industry are the substance of this 1996 made-for-TV film starring made-for-TV-film perennial Stephen Collins. NBC.

"America On Wheels" (9 p.m.-10 p.m., MPT, Channels 22 and 67) -- When you think about it, there probably hasn't been a more influential 20th-century invention than the automobile (OK, so it was really invented in the waning years of the 19th century. Let's not quibble). Hal Holbrook narrates this first of a three-part series, which tonight looks at how Henry Ford's mass-production techniques transformed both the way we go from place to place and the way we deal with our workplace. PBS.

"Cybill" (9: 30 p.m.-10 p.m., WJZ, Channel 2) -- In a funny repeat from last season, Brian Keith plays Cybill's agent, who is fired by Cybill, then promptly has a heart attack. It turns out he was just about the worst agent ever to afflict Hollywood, which makes it tough for Cybill when she has to organize the wake. Kenny Rogers has a cameo. CBS.

Cable

"Bright Eyes" (10: 30 a.m.-noon, AMC) -- Shirley Temple sings "On the Good Ship Lollipop" and becomes a Hollywood legend.

"Paradise Lost: The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills" (8 p.m.-10: 30 p.m., HBO) -- In 1993, three 8-year-old boys were found murdered and mutilated near the Arkansas town of West Memphis. This sure-to-be disturbing documentary looks at the murders, their effect on the community and the trial and conviction of three teen-agers charged with the crimes.

"The "Music City News" Country Awards" (8 p.m.-10: 30 p.m., repeats midnight-2: 30 a.m., TNN) -- Another awards show, this one the 30th annual celebration from Nashville's Grand Ole Opry. When will it all end?

"Love Story" (9 p.m.-11 p.m., TCM) -- This was once considered a great film. Hard to believe.
