Man stopped as burglary suspect faces traffic charges

June 07, 1996

A county police officer stopped a man who fit the description of a burglary suspect Tuesday and arrested him on theft and traffic charges after checking his driver's license, police said yesterday.

William Joseph Falter, 45, of the 1000 block of Park Circle Drive in Cape St. Claire was charged with the theft of license plates and driving with a revoked license.

Officer John Taylor was patrolling Benfield Road and Interstate 97 about 1 p.m. when he saw a man fitting a suspect's description.

Taylor stopped the man, who was driving a 1985 Mercury station wagon, checked his license and found it had been revoked. The license tags on the car had been reported stolen, police said.
