Immanuel Episcopal Church celebrates 125th birthday

Immanuel Episcopal Church in Glencoe will celebrate its 125th anniversary Sunday.

The celebration and rededication will begin at the 10: 15 morning prayer service. A covered dish luncheon will take place at 11: 45 a.m. and a program of remembrance and thanksgiving will be offered at 12: 30 p.m. A Passing of the Peace will begin at 1: 30 p.m.

Other activities include a 100-year pictorial history, words from past and present rectors and songs of celebration from the church school choir.

Glencoe, in northern Baltimore County, is named for a historic site in Scotland. Founded in 1871, Immanuel Church, at 1509 Church Road, is in the center of the community.

St. Joseph's offers safari Bible school theme

St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Cockeysville will have a Safari Adventure Bible vacation school this month.

The church will be transformed into the "Kingdom of the Son," where children can participate in songs, skits, crafts, games and Bible studies.

The vacation church school will run from 9 a.m. to noon June 17 to June 21. The closing program will be at 11: 45 a.m. June 21.

After the program, the church will have a family picnic.

Author Breighner making stops to sign 'Stops'

Cathedral Foundation Press author the Rev. Joseph Breighner will sign his book, "Stops Along the Country Road," at six locations in coming weeks:

2 p.m. June 15 at Greetings and Readings, 809 Taylor Ave., Towson.

7 p.m. June 21 at Lemstone Book Store, Marley Station, Glen Burnie.

Noon June 22 at Mary's Garden Catholic Store, 330 S. Main St., Bel Air.

7: 30 p.m. June 27 at Borders Books and Music, 415 York Road, Towson.

bTC Noon June 29 at Cokesbury Books, 102 N. Rolling Road, Catonsville.

7: 30 p.m. July 10 at Bibelot, 1819 Reisterstown Road, Pikesville.

Breighner has a Sunday radio program on WPOC-FM (93.1).
