County police have arrested one of three suspects in the attempted robbery early yesterday of a woman who was walking along Church Street near Sixth Street in Brooklyn Park.

Michael Anthony Jolin, 18, was charged with attempted armed robbery, assault with intent to rob and handgun violations.

Police said April Renae King, 23, was walking along Church Street about 12: 30 a.m. when three men stepped out from behind a house and approached her.

One of them pulled out a .22-caliber revolver and demanded King's money and pager, police said. King screamed and ran to a nearby house while the three men ran toward a bingo hall, the gunman dropping his weapon, police said.

Officers who arrived minutes later found two men matching the would-be robbers' descriptions at a High's store in the 700 block of Church St. As the officer approached, one of them fled on a bicycle., The one who remained was later identified by King as the gunman.

Police also found an unloaded handgun that King identified as the one used in the robbery attempt, police said.
