1993 Talus Cabernet Sauvignon ($8)
This California producer has emerged recently as one of the best sources of high-quality wine for under $10. Its zinfandel is quite good, but its fruity, well-balanced, smooth and very fruity cabernet is even better. It's not complex or in any way highfalutin, just pure black cherry fruit with a smooth texture and fine intensity.
