Baltimore will get a first look at its Ravens tonight, when the city's new NFL team unveils one of its logos amid fireworks downtown.

The "sneak preview" will follow the last out of the Orioles-Tigers game, and feature banners dropping from buildings within view of baseball fans leaving the game, weather permitting.

"We want to have a public event. We want the public to first see the product," said Ravens spokesman Kevin Byrne.

Most teams have a number of symbols and logos. Sources familiar with the Ravens' uniforms say it features a black helmet with a gold crest on the sides and a purple stripe down the top. The crest is partitioned into quadrants with a "B" in the middle and an element of the Maryland flag in one quadrant.

Home jerseys will be purple with white lettering, possibly with a black or gold trim and a patch featuring a raven swooping down onto a football. Away jerseys will be white. The pants will be black with another version of the crest on the hip, this one featuring the red, black and yellow of the state flag.

Tomorrow, players -- including quarterback Vinny Testaverde -- will model uniforms and other Ravens-related apparel at the Gallery at Harborplace between noon and 12: 30 p.m.

The team formerly known as the Browns moved from Cleveland to Baltimore this year. The team agreed to leave its name and uniform colors behind.
