County police checking on complaints of a loud party in Linstead on the Severn Saturday arrested a Millersville man on drug charges.

Douglas Waterman Morton, 19, of the 500 block of Point Field Drive was charged with possession of marijuana. Bail information was not available.

Officer Brent Weaver went to a house in the 100 block of Boone Trail shortly after 3 a.m. after neighbors complained of a loud party there.

When the officer arrived, he saw five people leave the house and drive off in a car, police said. Weaver stopped the car and noticed one passenger try to hide an open can of beer, police said.

Weaver asked the man to get out of the car, then saw the man drop a small bag onto the ground as the officer talked to others in the car, police said.

Weaver picked up the bag of what later tested positive for 7.5 grams marijuana and arrested the man.

Police searched the car and the other occupants but found nothing and released them.

Other officers broke up the party.
