Meade Class of 1991 plans five-year reunion

THE MEADE Senior High School Class of 1991 has scheduled its five-year reunion for 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. June 23 at Kurtz's on the Chesapeake Bay in Pasadena.

This will be a picnic-style event. The menu will include pit beef and ham, marinated chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, salads and desserts, beer and sodas. The cost is $20 per person, $8 for children 4 to 12. The deadline for responding has been extended to June 12.

Heritage society awards

The Odenton Heritage Society recently held its first annual awards dinner at Perry's Grill in Odenton. Among those honored were Steve and Diane Boring, Lucille Jones and Jean and George Murray for their preservation of historic homes. Dorothy Hammond and Roger White were recognized for outstanding service to the society.

Lawyers Steve Sindler and B. Eugene Collins, along with Norman Myers of Revere Printing, were recognized for professional contributions to the society.

Certificates of appreciation were given to the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company, CPA Andrew Powell, Joyce Ohmer of the Bank of Glen Burnie, Epiphany Episcopal Church and Anne Arundel County historic sites planner Donna Ware. Robert Johnson, outgoing president, Jackie DeBarr and Elaine Lloyd received gifts for their service to the society.

The society recently elected Donna Donaldson president, Pat Wellford first vice president, Elaine Lloyd second vice president, Betty Slayton secretary and Sally Shoemaker treasurer.

Carryout and bake sale

Trinity United Methodist Church will hold a pit beef carryout and bake sale from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 15. The price is $4 and includes beef, cole slaw and baked beans.

The church is located at 956 Patuxent Road in the Woodwardville section of Odenton.

Networking and golf

The third and last session of the 1996 Women in Business Golf Series, sponsored by the YWCA of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County, called "Networking and Twilight Golf Play," will begin at 3 p.m. June 18 at the Walden Golf Club in Crofton. The session will include nine holes of golf and a cookout at 5: 30 p.m. for business networking.

The cost is $40, and advance registration and payment are required. The deadline for registration is June 10.

The "Networking and Twilight Golf Play" session is for women golfers at every level of ability. Foursomes will be accepted. The playing format will be a shotgun start at 3 p.m.

The series is set up to provide business women with networking and leadership opportunities through golf. The YWCA also offers golf lessons for beginning and intermediate golfers.
