Teen-ager robbed near Lake Kittamaqundi

A teen-ager visiting Lake Kittamaqundi in Columbia's Town Center was robbed Saturday night by three people on foot, county police said.

The victim, a 17-year-old from Virginia, was not injured in the crime, which occurred about 10 p.m. Saturday near the lake area in the 10000 block of Wincopin Circle.

The three showed a 9 mm handgun and demanded cash, the teen-ager handed over an undisclosed amount and the suspects ran, police said.

Police did not have detailed descriptions of the suspects.

A similar robbery occurred in the same area a week ago. In that case, two men on bicycles passed a man sitting near the lake, then returned minutes later and robbed the sightseer of his wallet, police said.
