Briefcase containing gun stolen from car

Someone broke into a Glen Burnie man's car between 9 p.m. Monday and 7: 15 a.m. Tuesday and stole a briefcase containing a .25-caliber semiautomatic handgun, county police said yesterday.

Jay Frederick Gibson, 37, told police the thief unlocked the driver's side door of his 1982 blue Mercedes-Benz parked in front of his house in the 100 block of Midland Road.

He said a black briefcase containing a black .25-caliber semiautomatic handgun and a loaded magazine, all valued at $100, was missing. A remote control for a car compact disc player, a cellular phone plug and a checkbook also were taken.

Girl accused of stealing from department store

A Baltimore teen-ager was arrested Tuesday on charges of trying to take several items from a Glen Burnie department store without paying, county police said yesterday.

The girl, who was accused of taking a swimsuit and a Pocahontas bag from the Montgomery Ward store, was charged on a juvenile citation with theft of items worth less than $300 and released to the custody of her sister, police said.

Woman takes cigarettes from convenience store

A woman stole five packs of cigarettes from a Glen Burnie convenience store and gas station Tuesday, county police said.

A clerk at the Royal Farms store in the 7200 block of Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd. told police a woman walked into the store shortly before 4 p.m., grabbed five packs of cigarettes valued at $10.75 and walked out without paying.

A witness told police he saw someone pick up the woman in a 1995 white Mercury Cougar about 250 feet north of the store.

The owner of the car told police her former husband had borrowed the car to look for a job.

Glen Burnie: Two men stole 22 wooden pallets from the Hechinger store in the 6700 block of Ritchie Highway Tuesday. An employee told police he saw a 1981 GMC blue pickup truck pull up to the pile in the parking lot about 3: 45 p.m. and two men get out, throw the pallets in the rear bed of the truck and leave. The pallets were valued at $440.
