Carnival season in Carroll County has gotten off to a wet start, but organizers are hoping for better weather.
The Gamber firemen's carnival was rained out Monday, and the Union Bridge fire company's carnival had only a few food and game stands open for what should have been a grand opening to the season.
If the sky clears, volunteers will set off Gamber's fireworks extravaganza by the Great Zambelli today. Twenty rides will be available to choose from.
Entertainment at Gamber includes Baktraxx today, the Sentries tomorrow, Stillwater on Friday, and Maria Rose and the Blue Horizon Band on Saturday.
The Gamber carnival opens at 6 p.m. daily through Saturday and includes food, raffles and games. The carnival grounds are behind the firehouse on Route 32. Information: 795-3445.
At Union Bridge, rides and games open at 7 p.m. daily through Saturday. Raffles will offer cash prizes at Saturday's drawings.
Entertainment will be provided by Still Water today, Bootleg tomorrow, Bob Plunkert and Real Country on Friday, and Silver Wings on Saturday.
