Man claiming to have gun holds up store

A man who claimed he had a gun held up a Glen Burnie convenience store for money and cigarettes Sunday morning, county police said yesterday.

An employee at the Royal Farms store in the 200 block of Oak Manor Road told police that a man walked into the store about 12: 10 a.m. and handed the clerk a note claiming he had a gun and demanding money. The clerk pulled the money tray out of the register, and the bandit took the cash and two packs of cigarettes.

He was last seen running toward Oakwood Road.

Annapolis man arrested at Glen Burnie Wal-Mart

An Annapolis man was arrested Saturday night and charged with trying to walk out of a Glen Burnie Wal-Mart store without paying for several items.

Carl Anthony Jones, 35, of the 200 block of Croll Road, was charged with theft under $300.

A security officer at the store in the 6700 block of Chesapeake Center Drive told police he saw a man remove five shirts worth a total of $44.20 from a display about 10: 37 p.m. When the man tried to walk out of the store without paying for the items, the security officer detained him until police arrived.
