A Hanover man was arrested Saturday on drug charges, county police said.
Daniel Edward Newberger, 33, of the 7700 block of Kidwell Drive was charged with possession of 7 grams of cocaine.
Police said an officer driving on Old Stoney Run Road noticed a 1995 gray Ford van full of trash heading toward the dead end of the road about 6 p.m. When a citizen told the officer that many people dump trash at the end of Old Stoney Run Road, the officer waited for the van to return.
When it returned, the officer stopped it and asked the driver if he had been dumping trash. The driver denied it, police said, and the officer asked the driver to step out of the van and stand near the back. When the officer asked two passengers in the van for their identifications, he saw the driver reach into his front pants pocket, pull something out and stick it in the cargo area of the van.
The officer searched the cargo area, and found a plastic bag containing 7 grams of cocaine and arrested the driver, police said.
