WITH THE unofficial start of summer -- Memorial Day -- just 10 days away, I can't help but wonder what happened to spring.We have had a few nice days here and there, but spring so far has been a cold, soggy bust.
With warmer days in this weekend's forecast, maybe we can enjoy a little bit of springtime before the mercury begins to soar.
Breakfast bonanza
If you're out and about tomorrow morning, stop by Magothy-Chelsea Community Lutheran Church on Beach Avenue and Third Street. The Ladies Guild will be serving its monthly all-you-can-eat breakfast bonanza from 7 a.m. to 10: 30 a.m.
Admission is $4.50 for adults and $2.50 for children 12 and younger. Children 3 and younger eat free.
Stuff yourself with eggs, pancakes, french toast, creamed chipped beef, home-style potatoes, sausage, toast, biscuits, juice and fruit.
Proceeds will benefit the Sunday school.

McDonald's festival
The McDonald's in Lake Shore is putting on a fun festival from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House in Baltimore.
The Ronald Show is at 2 p.m. Tickets for several raffles also will be on sale.
Bingo marathon
Night owls can play bingo all night tonight at Lake Shore Volunteer Fire Department hall on Mountain Road. This bingo marathon, from 8: 30 p.m. to 6: 30 a.m., is sponsored by the fire department auxiliary.
Three bingo packages, food and refreshments will be available. The doors will open at 7 p.m.

Flea markets
Strapped for cash? Turn that pile of spring cleaning trash into a pocketful of money at locally sponsored flea markets.
The Ladies Auxiliary of the Orchard Beach Volunteer Fire Company is sponsoring a flea market from 7: 30 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 25 at the fire hall on Solley Road. Tables and spaces are available for $10.

Pasadena United Methodist Church, 61 Ritchie Highway, is sponsoring a flea market from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 8 at its fellowship hall. Tables are available for $10 each.

Soccer registration
Mountain Road Soccer will conduct fall 1996 registration at Lake Shore Elementary School from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Birth certificates are required for proof of age. Family discounts are available on registration fees.

Glendening to speak
Stoney Creek Democratic Club on Fort Smallwood Road invites the community to a free open house at 5: 30 p.m. Wednesday.
"This open house is a little different than our normal open house events in that Gov. Parris Glendening will be our special guest for the evening," Evelyn Sommer, club spokeswoman, said.
The evening will begin with a cocktail hour. Glendening will speak between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Dinner will be served afterward.

The Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2462 will hold a Sunday afternoon dinner dance from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. June 2 at the post home on Bayside Beach Road.
