Baltimore woman, 29, charged in robberies

May 10, 1996

A former employee of a car rental firm at Baltimore-Washington Internation Airport remains in the Anne Arundel County Detention Center in lieu of $205,000 bond on charges she robbed two out-of-town guests at gunpoint on the parking lot of the Sheraton BWI in 1994.

Karen Young, 29, who once worked for Alamo Rent A Car at BWI, was arrested Monday at her home in the 1600 block of E. 29th St. in Baltimore by Maryland Transportation Authority Police.

Lori Vidil, a spokeswoman for the transportation authority, said Young was considered a suspect in the robberies in November and December of 1994 shortly after they occurred but declined to say what evidence led to her arrest.

Vidil said at least one other person is expected to be arrested in the robberies outside the Sheraton, as well as other robberies in the county.
