Two men were arrested Saturday on assault charges stemming from a fight in the parking lot of a Fort Smallwood Road nightclub, police said.
Jonathan Andrew Collins, 26, of the 300 block of Riggs Ave. in Severna Park and Clinton Alan Darnell, 26, of the 2800 block of Woodland Hills Drive in Cumming, Ga., were charged with two counts of assault. Collins also was charged with reckless endangerment and possessing a handgun with intent to commit a felony.
Witnesses told police two men got into an argument with two other men in the A. L. Gators nightclub in the 8500 block of Fort Smallwood Road and went to a rear parking lot.
One of the men got a Colt .380-caliber handgun from his car, at the urging of his friend, and pointed it at the other two men, then fired once in the air and twice into the ground, police said.
When police arrived, they found the gun on the ground next to one of the men and arrested him.
The other men, whom police identified only as Adam Seib and Scott Delimater, were not injured. The two men, and a group that followed them out of the bar, are witnesses, police say.
