Times Mirror Co. taps Sun publisher for vice president 5 other executives also named to post

Mary E. Junck, publisher and chief executive of The Baltimore Sun Co., was named a corporate vice president of Times Mirror Co. yesterday, along with five other executives of the Los Angeles-based media company.

She will continue her duties at The Sun while contributing companywide.

"We are very pleased to name these outstanding executives Times Mirror vice presidents," said Mark H. Willes, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Times Mirror. "These appointments recognize the contributions and impact these individuals had and will increasingly have on the progress of our company."

Willes took over last year as Times Mirror's top executive.

Junck, 48, was named publisher and chief executive of The Baltimore Sun in 1993. Before that, she was publisher and president of the St. Paul Pioneer Press in Minnesota.

Also appointed corporate vice presidents were: Horst Bergmann, chairman, president and chief executive of Jeppesen Sanderson; Shelby Coffey III, editor and executive vice president of the Los Angeles Times; Kathryn Downing, president and chief executive of Matthew Bender; Raymond Jansen, publisher, president and chief executive of Newsday; and Michael Waller, publisher and chief executive officer of the Hartford Courant.
