Chesapeake Womens' Club to hold fashion show

THE CHESAPEAKE Womens' Club is having its annual spring fashion show from noon to 3 p.m. May 22 at the Gibson Island Country Club.

"This is our major fund-raiser for local scholarships," said Maggie Gresham, show coordinator.

The club awards two scholarships to graduating seniors at Chesapeake and Northeast high schools.

Womens' fashions, modeled by club members, will be provided by La Petite of Severna Park and Eddie Bauer in Marley Station.

Tickets are $22.

Coffee house

A coffee house featuring the talents of several local performers, including Ashly Margenthaler, Off Duty, One Spirit and Joyful Noise, will take place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today in Magothy United Methodist Church fellowship hall, 3703 Mountain Road.

Admission is free.

You're invited

Community United Methodist Church, 8680 Fort Smallwood Road, is having two activities this weekend that you are invited to attend.

The church's Outreach Committee is sponsoring a flea market, starting at 8 a.m. tomorrow.

Tables are still available for $10 each.

On Sunday at 3: 30 p.m., the church will be the site of a service sponsored by the Baltimore-Washington Conference of United Methodist Churches, Annapolis district, to celebrate "Good Neighbor Week."

The Rev. Harold Recinos, professor of theology at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, will be the speaker.

Choirs participating in the event include those of the First Korean Church of Greater Baltimore and Community United Methodist. Liturgical dancers also will perform.

Refreshments will be served after the service.

Dinner and bingo

The ladies' auxiliary of the Monsignor Raymond P. Kelly, Knights of Columbus, Council 10966 is sponsoring its second annual dinner and bingo event on June 8 at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Church hall in Riviera Beach.

The chicken dinner will begin at 6: 30 p.m.

Tickets are $20 a person. Reservations must be made by June 3.

Photo contest

Shutter bugs still have time to clean their lenses in anticipation of the 1996 county Department of Recreation and Parks photography contest.

Entries can be submitted May 10 through July 10 at the Downs Park information center, Quiet Waters visitor center or the B & A Trail Park headquarters.

Photos must be of a county facility but not necessarily taken this year.

Prizes will be awarded to winners in five categories.
