Salisbury man seriously hurt in car accident

April 30, 1996

A Salisbury man was seriously injured Friday when his car spun out of control on Defense Highway, hit a utility pole and flipped over, police said.

The driver, Robert Bruce Fullerton, III, 22, of the 400 block of Harden Court in Salisbury, was listed in critical condition yesterday at the Prince George's Trauma Center.

Police said Mr. Fullerton was speeding east on Defense Highway about 2 a.m. in a black 1987 Mazda RX7 when he hit a curve and lost control. The car spun clockwise and slid sideways along the eastbound lane, smashed into a utility pole near the driver's side door, breaking the pole at its base, then flipped over. Mr. Fullerton was trapped inside and freed by a fired department rescue team, police said.

There were no signs of drugs or alcohol use, police said.
