A 23-year-old man was charged last night in the fatal shooting of his girlfriend during an argument Saturday in the duplex they shared in the 7000 block of Surrey Drive in Northwest Baltimore, police said.

Homicide Detective Carol Opher said Sue Ellen Egeberg, 45, was shot in the face after 8: 30 p.m. Saturday and had been dead about two hours when another man, who lives in the duplex, found her about 11: 15 p.m. on the kitchen floor.

A .380 semiautomatic handgun was recovered in the kitchen sink, Detective Opher said.

Anibal Rene Elias Colop, a clerk at a Pikesville grocery store, was arrested at the scene and charged with first-degree murder and using a handgun in the commission of a felony, Detective Opher said. She said he was being held without bond at the Central Police District pending a bail review hearing today in District Court.
