Baltimore teen charged with killing brother

April 28, 1996

A West Baltimore teen-ager was charged with fatally shooting his older half brother yesterday in a fight over loud music, police said.

The victim, Damon Pleasant, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Oreese Stevenson, 18, of the 2100 block of N. Smallwood St. was being detained at the Western District Police Station pending a bail hearing, said Sam Ringgold, a Baltimore police spokesman.

The disagreement started about 11: 50 a.m., when Mr. Pleasant, who was moving into their mother's house, complained about the teen's radio, police said.

The two men argued in an upstairs room of the home before Mr. Stevenson rushed downstairs, where Mr. Pleasant was shot three times, police said.

Mr. Stevenson ran from the home but returned to the block and was arrested. Homicide detectives had not found the weapon yesterday evening, police said.
